I work at Exa, an applied AI lab building web search for AI agents. I've spent most of my career helping new products find their market. Working at an AI lab is turning me back into a builder. A good chunk of my job now runs on agents I wrote myself.
Within a few years, AI agents will search the web more than people do, and Google wasn't built to serve them. Exa was. Cursor, Cognition, and HubSpot already run on it, and I spend my days with the teams bringing it into production. Will, Exa's CEO, makes the case in his vision letter.
How much of a product growth and go-to-market job can you hand over to your own agents? So far, more than I expected. What stays human is the judgment. What to delegate, what to verify, what to ship, and what still deserves a real conversation. And ideally, all of it without burying anyone in slop.
If there's a pattern in my career, it's zero to one. First sales hire for a new AI product at Google Cloud (3,000+ customers, $20M ARR), first sales leader at Triplebyte (one to twenty people, zero to eight figures), and early go-to-market at Trunk.io. Further back, I grew up in Bulgaria, studied computer science, wrote code at SAP, and picked up an MBA at Berkeley Haas.
